“I haven’t taken a [lingerie] selfie, that I remember,” Pamela Anderson says by email. “I’m the wrong girl to ask!” That the former Playboy centerfold and Baywatch icon has never attempted the canny photo-op is a bit surprising—especially considering how well she plays to the camera in a new campaign for British lingerie line Coco de Mer. Shot by famed photographer Rankin, the 49-year-old bombshell slips her signature curves into form-hugging lace bodysuits and strappy bodices from the Icons collection, whipping her platinum hair and contorting herself into bold, empowering poses. Selfies, in truth, would hardly have done her justice.

As it happens, Anderson is an expert on the delicate art of underpinnings and Coco de Mer, in particular—what likely prompted managing director Lucy Litwack to secure the campaign, along with a forthcoming design collaboration, over dinner in London. Called "Pam <3’s Coco” and due out next February, Anderson plans to bring back the cut-to-here silhouette she made famous in the ’90s (“It’s all about long legs!”). “Coco de Mer was my favorite store in L.A.,” Anderson explains. "I have almost everything—I love it all.”

Beneath the structured Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood dresses she’s favored of late—the key components to her chic makeunder—Anderson confesses she always wears classic little-nothing pieces and prefers to sleep in slippery baby doll nighties and silk shorts. Her best bit of advice? Lingerie, she assures, is not reserved for seduction (though, if that moment arises, a garter belt and stockings will do the trick). “It makes you feel different to know what you are wearing underneath your clothes is beautiful,” she says, adding that a matching bra and panties can be enough. “It doesn’t have to be seen by anyone else to feel sexy and feminine. I wear lingerie for me—if anyone else see it, it’s a bonus!” But, of course.
